So just thought I would update for those of you who didn't already see it on Facebook.
I went to the Round Rock job fair first. When I got there I had to park on the grass b/c there were so many people there! It was crazy! The job fair was for Elementary, Middle and High schools.
So you walk in and you have to get a name tag and a little sticker saying what level you are. Then the Elementary was all in the gym. All 30 schools. They were alphabetical around the room. There were so many people in this room it was Overwhelming! You found the school you wanted and then stood in line, when you got to the front you either spoke to a teacher, counselor or asst. principal or principal at the school. They could talk to you for either 30 seconds up to 5 minutes. Just depended on the school. Most of the schools said they didn't know yet if they would be hiring b/c the teachers still have time to get their contracts back, or they haven't found out their funding yet. So I handed out about 12 resumes in 2 hours, then I left and went to the Pflugerville job fair. When I got there, I wished I had gone there first, b/c apparently everyone had done what I did, went to RRISD first and then came there. Well, they only have 10 Elementary Schools, so I could've done it in an hour with no lines and then gone to RR, but the Pflugerville one went until 1:00 and the RR only lasted until noon, and so that is how I made my decision.
Pflugerville was the same thing, stand in line and when you got to the front you talked to someone on staff from the school. Their answers were also the same, they didn't know yet, funding, blah, blah, blah.
So, no one hired on the spot which was a bummer! But it was a good experience and I did get my resume out there, and a few helpful hints from the teachers that were doing the interviews, so I guess it was worth it.
Now, I get to send out more resumes and keep an eye on the internet daily for the jobs to be listed!
Wish me luck and pray that God would open the door to where I am supposed to be teaching next year!!!
