Steph and I (Greg was putting Daniella back to bed)
Me, Greg and Steph... boy, we clean up nice! :)
The Hahn "castle" I am living in for the first couple months! :)
Did I mention that they like the shape of Texas here? This is the number on Steph and Greg's house! :)So, I also mentioned in my long update that I had gotten hired at The Iron Cactus. Below are two pictures. The first one is of me holding up the gift card I got for being MVP of the 2nd night of training! I was so excited!!!! And the second picture is of me in my whole uniform (the only color is the blue around the cactus on my shirt... everything else is black!)
MVP!!!
What I will look like at work every night!Okay, so next is last weekend... Hurrican Ike. Thanks to all of you who texted and emailed asking if I was okay and sending your prayers! Originally the path they predicted was that Ike would come right for Austin, but by the time it got to us it would be a tropical storm. So Thursday while the kiddos were at school, Steph and I went to the grocery store to stock up for the weekend, and then to Hollywood video to get a few movies. The pictures below are of Friday night and Saturday. Friday people started evacuating and actually coming to Austin because it was looking like it might not hit us after all. And it didn't. It came in at Galveston and basically went north.
Daniella and I were in the living room and she said "Auntie Heather, the sky is red!" and I looked outside and it was so beautiful (see not all things are bad with Hurricanes!) so I ran upstairs and got my camera, went out the front door and took about 20 pictures! I am sharing a few with you! If you know me at all, you know that I LOVE sunsets... definitely one of my favorite things. I love how God just mixes all those colors together!

So Saturday we were actually hoping to at least get some rain out of Ike... no such luck. We got a cloudy day and some wind. Below are some pics of that. I tried to get a couple during wind gusts... but you can't really tell unless you look really close... :)
This was supposed to be a windy one.. .you can kind of tell that the tree leaves are a little blurry in the middle... that is wind
gray clouds
Trying to capture the wind in the bush... again, you can kind of see some blurry leaves
Gray skys... trying to show the different cloudsSo, thanks again for all the prayers. The devastation that Ike caused to other areas of Texas is horrible! We were spared this time, but this is Texas, there will be other hurricanes that do hit us as tropical storms.
Everything else is going pretty good. Training for the Iron Cactus is going well. Unfortunately the opening has been post-poned about 4 days due to permits not being approved yet... so we will now be opening on Friday, September 26th instead of Monday, September 22nd. I am really excited though. We have a really great group and everyone in the area is really excited for us to be opening!
I go to get fingerprinted for subbing this Friday, so hopefully that process will be done soon and I will be able to sub!
Camp Fire is going well. I have 4th and 5th graders. I actually haven't met the 5th graders yet, thanks to Hurricane Ike! Schools here had a 1/2 day on Friday to prepare for the traffic of everyone evacuating to the area. So I will meet my 5th graders this Friday. Please pray that I will be a positive influence on these kids!
Please continue to pray for a church out here. I will be trying out a new church this Sunday... I haven't figured out which one yet :) But I will keep you posted on how that goes. I'm so sad that I won't be there for Fall Kick-off at Grace!

Well, once again it is really late here. I did get in 2 posts with pictures! Hopefully I will get better at posting more often!
Love and miss you all!!!
